For exactly a decade and a half with tremendous hardworking that will see an impactful socioeconomic development, your adorable visionary leader, Her Royal Highness, Mama Dzidoasi I, the sub-divisional Queen for the good people of Gbi Abansi Traditional Area is celebrating a journey of enviable successes. It could have never been this great achievement without your support and collaborative decision making. In this regard, the yearlong celebration has been loaded with carefully selected projects that will provide the necessary humanitarian support to our beloved people of the land. From the very first day of launching of the anniversary the execution of the 15 Thematic Projects will kick start. These projects include the following
It is my vision to support the fight against the deadly breast cancer hurting our women. The BCF is a dedicated fund set aside to provide the needed support in activities such as public education campaign on how women, can prevent the disease, campaign against stigmatisation of affected individuals, provision of financial support to the victim and many more.
The Dzidoasi TEENpreneurs Academy is an ecosystem of teenagers of age thirteen (13) to Nineteen (19) years old who receive comprehensive life coaching development through educational and economic activities. Click here to register for TEENpreneurs Academy
Education, we say is the key to endless successes. Every child deserves to be knowledgeable, to be able to understand the society around him and the possible changes that occur every day. The DCDP seeks to construct community library, furnished with comprehensive reading materials which covers variety of subjects such as science, religion, culture, technology, social, economic, life skills, creative arts, sports, agriculture, vocation and many more. We believe that when the growing child is inculcated in his mind with the habit of reading, it will alleviate him or her from the syndrome of naiveness and mental slavery. Knowledge is power and its acquisition must not be a privilege but the right of the child.
Technology as has been experienced for the few decades ago has become the centre of every human activity. Knowledge acquired in Information Communication Technology (ICT) is highly expedient. The ICT project of DCPD looks into developing young people on the need to be abreast with modern tools due to the economic, educational and social positive and negative impacts associated with it. Under this programme, the child will be trained in a well-furnished ICT Labs under the tutorship of professional ICT trainers. Courses such as introduction to ICT tools, basic coding, basics in website designing and social media marketing will be taught. The facility will also serve as a source of online research for both students and the community members.
The DCDP believes in quality education at the tender age of the child. Grooming the child at the early stage with quality education within a conducive environment can be an indispensable solid foundation for future successes in the field of formal education. With this vision, deprived nursery schools will be adopted, serviced with the necessary logistics and their proper growth will be well monitored over a period of time. When the goal is achieved, the schools will be given back to the community to maintain and sustain their level of quality for the children.
Our aged mothers and fathers need our care than anything. Old age is a blessing and should never be considered as a bane. It has been observed over many years that the aged especially those with low socioeconomic background always suffer some levels of neglection, trauma and psychological disorder due to the lack of monetary support, love and affection they are denied of. Within the yearlong celebration and beyond, the DCDP will provide the needed voluntary care and support by showing love to these mothers and fatherS in a form of donation of money, food items and toiletries. A group of dedicated youth will help clean up their dwellings, provide company within some hours and tell stories of companionship to relieve them of depression, and other psychological problems.
The young ladies in their puberty stages need care and constructive instructions. Proper self-management of these girls can transform them into responsible women. Under the menstrual hygiene programme, the DCDP will supply the needs of the girls by providing considerable number of sanitary pads to them whilst giving educational talks on how to deal with menstrual issues within the periods. The activities will entail visitation to the deprived communities and schools where these girls can be engaged.
The kids love play and we understand them. We can make our festivities enjoyable more than ever. The Annual Games for the Kids is a yearly organised event where the children in the community will be brought together to feast in diverse ways. The objective is to see a happy kid growing in a happy environment surrounded by peers who will develop love and togetherness with them.
Much like the vocational training for the TEENpreneurs, all women irrespective of their age will be given the needed training and support to be equipped with some skills that will help them create jobs for a living. Under this programme, these women will be taken through a comprehensive craft which include:
• Cake Baking
• Soap Making
• Beads Making
• Décor
• Batik Tie & Dye
The programme is deemed to provide a social intervention, helping to minimise joblessness in the country.
It used to be women doing what men can do but recent study shows women can even do better. Under the women empowerment programme, the DCDP seeks to establish football clubs for women. Dedicated individuals who are ready for the game will be recruited to undergo training with professional coaches. The club is expected to grow into a national asset where the women can express their skills for a living.
The Scheme will be created to provide educational support for the brilliant but less endowed students in both basic and second cycle institutions. After meticulous needs assessment, the rightful students will be given the needed support in monetary form as well as provision of educational materials to help them achieve their dreams.
The world is moving at a faster pace with entertainment being modernized and monetized every day. Wide variety of people across the globe always appreciate unique cultures and the Ghanaian rich culture is no exception. The DCDP will endeavour to introduce the cultural heritage within the Gbi Abansi Traditional Area into the spotlight. For this reason, the existing cultural groups will be adopted to be put under a well modernized and management unit where the enabling environment will be provided for efficient growth of these groups within the context of the contemporary creative arts development.
The reading and debate competition is planned to give the children the enabling platform to develop and express their intelligence and public speaking prowess. Knowledge is hidden inside the book and until it is read, it cannot be discovered. Exposing the child to such activities will also ensure these individuals grow in wisdom and understanding of the things around them. Winners will be awarded accordingly whilst participants will be challenged to put in much effort to develop their skills and talents.
The Cultural and traditional dishes of very Ghanaian Community is special. Women love to cook and even some gentlemen. With the view to create the enabling platform that will see every woman knowing the best way to produce indigenous Gbi dishes, the DCDP will annually organise a cooking competition that will allow each woman to do what they know best. The competition will feature selected women from the surrounding communities where their skills will be displayed in preparing foods which the people love to eat.
The obsolete Rice Mill at the Gbi Abansi locality has drawn many concerns from the good people of the land. This Mill is a source of livelihood, supporting women with economic needs. Within a period of one year, critical attention will be given to the rehabilitation of the Rice Mill to bring it into sustainable workability. Funds will be made available to restore the structure to provide a source of income for the women of Gbi Abansi.
